It is disgraceful to see a University Hillel putting on a program with an anti-Israel group like Amnesty International. See this post by Alan Dershowitz for background on Amnesty International:

[...] Jerry Fowler, a director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, spoke Sunday at the University of Oregon as one of five keynote lecturers at the Witnessing Genocide Symposium. The symposium, inspired by a 1996 conference on ethics and the Holocaust, was opened on Saturday with a speech by Samantha Power. Fowler, who is the Podlich Distinguished Visitor at Claremont McKenna College and Staff Director of the Committee on Conscience at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, asked attendees if bearing witness to genocide can have any practical effects toward eliminating mass violence.
I just love Phyllis Chesler, and have ever since stumbling onto one of her books while killing time at a bookstore. I think it was "The New Anti-Semitism." Anyway, I hope she speaks near me in the near future, as I will definitely go to hear her.

-You should check out the Chabad House there too, they've got a beautiful facility right near the campus - like a five minute walk,

I would give them a visit - lots to see, and the Rabbi and his wife are great!

My youngest son Jay has been accepted to Binghamton for the 2007 Fall Semester, so I was online trying to get a little more info on the University. Since I feel that having access to an active Jewish college community is important, I thought I would check into the Hillel House at Binghamton. I never dreamed I would find the Shabbat program that was held in March. Jay and I can't wait to visit next weekend for Bearcat Welcome Day and will definitely look forward to visiting Hillel. The other schools he has been accepted to will have a hard time convincing us that they can even compete with this program!
