This month Hillel is very excited to announce the founding of a brand new group on campus:Keshet, meaning rainbow in Hebrew, is a social group for queer Jews, friends, and allies. Please join us for the following events and distribute this information to any of your friends who you think may be interested as well:
1) Monday, March 26th at 5:30 pmKeshet is holding its very first call-out meeting at Falafel’s on Kirkwood. Though we’re not picking up the bill, we are providing the chance to connect with other queer Jewish students at IU, good company, excellent conversation, and opportunities for leadership within both the queer and Jewish communities on campus. Keshet events are open to everyone, regardless of religion or sexual orientation.
2) Monday, March 26th at 7:30 pm
“Keep not Silent: Ortho-Dykes” Movie Screening and Discussion
Join us in the Hillel living room to watch this Israeli Oscar winning movie about the the lives and struggles of Orthodox lesbians.
Rabbi Sue Shifron will be facilitating the discussion afterwords.
Snacks will be provided.
3) Tuesday, April 3rd (Second night of Passover)
Queer Seder!!! Celebrate the holiday with friends as we explore the themes of Jewish freedom from oppression in Egypt and today’s modern struggle to achieve GLBT equality. Times and location TBA - RSVP required. Please RSVP to stacy.konkiel@gmail.com
