Prof. Alvin Rosenfeld’s article for the AJC got a pretty bad rap at the Boston Globe. The AJC had something to say about it:
STANLEY KUTLER’S Feb. 7 op-ed on a recent essay by Professor Alvin Rosenfeld of Indiana University, published by the American Jewish Committee, is replete with unfounded statements and innuendo.
First, the headline is misleading. Neither Rosenfeld in his essay nor AJC has ever remotely asserted that “all critics of Israel” are anti-Semites. That would be absurd.
Rather, Rosenfeld asks a provocative question: Is what is widely called the “new anti-Semitism” — the movement to deny Israel’s right to exist whatever its final borders — assisted, wittingly or otherwise, by those Jews who oppose Israel’s very legitimacy and demonize its every action?
