This Friday night, women from across the Washington University campus will come together for an evening of relaxation, spirituality and Judaism.
Under the auspices of Chabad on Campus and Batsheva, the Jewish Women’s Group, over 75 women are expected to come together for Shabbat dinner with the aim of uniting Jewish women on campus. The event is set to take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Lopata Great Hall.
“The [dinner] is supposed to be a fun, spiritual, no-barrier event for the Jewish women in our community,” said Helaine Schiller, an organizer of the event.
Batsheva has hosted a number of small classes on Jewish women and the Bible this year, but this is the group’s first major event.
According to its Web site, Batsheva strives to “provide a space for all Jewish women on campus where they can freely address their concerns in a supportive, social environment” while encouraging feminist thought.
More information about the dinner can be found on Facebook or by contacting Helaine Schiller.
