Hillel Montreal will show a documentary on Nov. 23 called “Blues by the Beach.” The film chronicles the suicide bombing of the famous music nightclub Mike’s Place in Tel Aviv that occurred on April 30, 2003. A discussion with director Joshua Faudem will follow the screening, beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event, located at the Paramount Cineplex Theatre at 977 Ste-Catherine West, can be purchased through Hillel for $5. The English film won numerous awards from film festivals across North America in Philadelphia, Vancouver, San Francisco, Newport Beach, and Sarasota.
Faudem was born in Detroit, Michigan, and moved to Jerusalem when he was seven years old. “Blues by the Beach” has received enormous praise from viewers. Faudem was even quoted by the Florida Herald Tribune about the film, saying that he wants “to make it eligible for the Oscars.â€?
